Lifetime’s “Drop Dead Diva” will be put to rest after the dramedy’s sixth season, Variety has confirmed.

From Sony Pictures TV, “Diva” follows the story of a shallow model who suddenly dies in an accident, only to find her soul resurfacing in the body of a brilliant, plus-sized attorney, Jane. Brooke Elliott toplines “Diva.”

Last January, Lifetime cancelled the series after its fourth season, but ultimately revived it for a fifth and sixth season thanks to a budget-friendly production plan with Sony.

Josh Berman is creator and exec producer on “Drop Dead Diva.” Craig Zadan, Neil Meron and Robert J. Wilson also exec produce.

Drop Dead Diva is a GEM. I don’t understand how it is ALWAYS described as a “CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED HIT” Show yet lifetime throws it away after the upcoming 6th Season. Lifetime may be surprised to see just how many ‘unlikes’ they’ll get if this happens, on their face book page.
The only reason many of us watch lifetime IS because of DROP DEAD DIVA. It’s CLASSY, DRAMATIC and a COMEDY that’s sure to get you glued to the tv to see what happens next. The story lines are smartly written and exceptionally acted out by the amazing cast. A lot of people who I’ve recommended the show to have gotten ADDICTED to it. So much so that they have even gone back to see the show from it’s first episode and are now re-watching the complete 5th season, which is playing ON DEMAND. Lifetime is making no sense in cancelling this great show. When every single member of your family can sit and watch a show – that says a lot about the show. It features stories that we’ve heard about or read in the news, too. The Return Button For Drop Dead Diva fan page on facebook has a petition circulating. They are asking that we sign and share it. I have. Can’t wait for Season 6 to start March 23rd, at 9pm.
Please keep Drop Dead Diva on or help find it a new home. …..here’s the link to the petition….. https://www.change.org/en-CA/petitions/danielle-carrig-a-e-networks-reverse-the-decision-to-cancel-drop-dead-diva-after-season-6-and-make-a-concerted-effort-to-promote-this-series

  2. Lifetime hasn’t wanted this show for a few years as they are trying to change their viewer profile, yet it’s been the highest rated scripted show on the network for the last few years. It has a large following and I won’t be surprised if there is push to “save the show” perhaps on another network. Sony’s been planning a 7th season, so this isn’t them talking.
