Lauren Ambrose has joined the cast of “Dig,” the USA Network event series from co-creators and executive producers Tim Kring and Gideon Raff, Variety has learned.

The “Six Feet Under” alum joins cast members Jason Isaacs, Anne Heche, Alison Sudol, Regina Taylor, David Costabile and Omar Metwally in the thriller about a Jerusalem-based FBI agent investigating the murder of an American archaeologist. Ambrose will play Debbie, a dedicated follower of evangelist Ted Billingham (Costabile) who begins to question her beliefs when a young boy goes missing.

“Dig” from Universal Cable Productions (UCP) and developed by Keshet, in association with executive producers Gail Berman (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) of Tecumseh Productions along with Gene Stein, Kring and Raff, is shooting in Jerusalem. (Raff’s relationship with Keshet also includes the drama “Prisoners of War,” the basis for his Showtime series “Homeland”).

The six episode event series, which was the first-ever Israeli-made drama to be sold directly to series for U.S. audiences, will premiere this fall on USA Network.

Ambrose is repped by UTA, Kipperman Management and Sloane Offer Weber and Dern, LLP.
