The second installment of FX’s “Fargo” has found its first two cast members: Kirsten Dunst (“Spider-Man”) and Jesse Plemons (“Breaking Bad”).

Dunst will play Peggy Blomquist, a small-town beautician with big city dreams who is trying to figure out who she really is. Plemons plays her husband, Ed, a butcher’s assistant, who wants to be supportive of his wife’s self-discovery, even if he doesn’t quite understand it.

Executive producers Noah Hawley (showrunner), Joel & Ethan Coehn, Warren Littlefield and John Cameron will all return for the second installment of “Fargo,” which is produced by MGM Television and FX Productions.

The new chapter of Fargo will be set in 1979 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Luverne, Minnesota, where young State Police Officer Lou Solverson (yet to be cast), recently back from Vietnam, will tackle an all new “true crime” case.  The new installment will also feature the yet-to-be-cast roles of Solverson’s wife, Betsy; their 4-year-old daughter, Molly; and fellow officer, Ben Schmidt.

While season one of “Fargo” was based on Coen movies “Fargo, “No Country for Old Men” and “A Serious Man,” Hawley has said that season two will draw inspiration from “Fargo,” “Miller’s Crossing” and “The Man Who Wasn’t There.”

The 10-episode second season is set to begin filming in January in Calgary, with an estimated late 2015 premiere.

Must be going for a less edgy feel…Friday Night Lights dude and Spiderman’s whinny girlfriend ;) ? no thanks. The ensemble cast of the 1st season was spectacular and it should have ended there.
