‘Gossip Girl’ EP Signs Overall with WBTV, Joins Batman Prequel ‘Gotham’

Writer-producer John Stephens has signed a two-year overall deal with WBTV that includes a position on the Fox/WBTV project, “Gotham,” Variety has learned.

The Batman prequel has a series commitment at the network. Stephens will serve as an executive producer if the project goes to series, thus reuniting the former co-executive producer of “The O.C.” with Ben McKenzie, who stars as a young Commissioner Gordon.

Stephens, whose credits also include serving as executive producer on “Gossip Girl,” and authoring the children’s book series “The Books of Beginning,” will also develop and create original projects for WBTV under his overall deal.

Stephens is represented by UTA and Jackoway Tyerman.
