The International Emmy Awards will honor Roberto Irineu Marinho, head of Brazilian media giant Globo Group, with its Directorate Award.

The award coincides with the 50th anniversary of Globo TV, the nation’s dominant TV network. Marinho, scion of the Globo founding family, has headed the group as CEO since 2003. His father earned the same award from the Intl. TV Academy more than 30 years ago.

“Roberto Irinheu Marinho is a pillar of Globo’s success. He has spearheaded the group’s national and global footprint while pursuing his family’s strong commitment to quality journalism and social responsibility for many years, the last ten as chairman and CEO,” said Bruce Paisner, president-CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

The Intl. Emmy Awards are set for Nov. 24 in Gotham. “Mad Men” creator Matthew Weiner will receive the org’s Founders Award.
