SundanceTV topper Sarah Barnett has a unique perspective on New York City’s sports scene: her office sits right across from Madison Square Garden. When the hometown teams are winning, she can feel the roar of the crowd at her desk. Her biggest focus when it comes to office space is to make sure it’s inviting. “It’s pretty much a revolving door,” she says. Pitch meetings are taken in a conference room, but brainstorming time with key execs is just as important. “This is a space for inventiveness and creativity,” she says.

Barnett prizes the “big comfy red couch” that takes up most of one wall as it encourages relaxed conversation.
She likes having her walls a deep gray in order to bring out the color in other objects in the room. Robert Redford, the channel founder who still maintains an office in the building, liked the concept so much he had his office walls done the same way.
Barnett’s office is enlivened with new art pieces every quarter that are delivered to AMC Networks’ offices by InLiquid Art & Design, a Philadelphia-based nonprofit that showcases emerging artists in corporate and public settings.
A small iron pig is a memento from a former colleague who left the TV biz to open a juice bar in upstate New York.
Two framed magazine covers featuring Redford remind her of the channel’s roots: One is TV Guide from the 1996 launch of the Sundance Channel; the other is a 1970 Life from the “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” era.
