Original content to screen in less than 24 hours
From July HBO and Cinemax original content, starting with Steven Soderbergh-directed “The Knick” will appear in Asia less than 24 hours after its US premiere.
In October last year the company announced that the gap would be cut to a week.
“Whilst this move is no silver bullet to combat piracy, it’s an on-going effort on our part to protect intellectual property, industry, jobs and revenue,” said Jonathan Spink, CEO, HBO Asia. “By offering viewers legitimate content in a timely and more convenient manner, we hope to be able to continue to encourage viewers to support the fight against online piracy.”
New seasons of “Boardwalk Empire,” “The Newsroom” (pictured) and new mini-series “Olive Kitteridge” – will be available either on HBO Asia’s standard and high definition channels (HBO, HBO Signature and Cinemax) or on broadband streaming service HBO GO within 12-hours after their premieres in the U.S.
