When you play the game of thrones, you have the book readers and the show watchers.

But Thursday morning author George R.R. Martin gave the readers a special present: an unseen chapter from his upcoming sixth book, “The Winds of Winter.”

With a little more than a week to go before the HBO show’s season four premiere, Martin published the chapter, titled “Mercy,” on his website.

“The new chapter is actually an old chapter,” he wrote. “But no, it’s not one I’ve published or posted before, and I don’t even think I’ve read it at a con.”

It begins:

“She woke with a gasp, not knowing who she was, or where.

The smell of blood was heavy in her nostrils… or was that her nightmare, lingering? She had dreamed of wolves again, of running through some dark pine forest with a great pack at her hells, hard on the scent of prey.”

Earlier this year, he released an unseen paragraph from the book that featured Tyrion Lannister.

“Mercy” can be read in full here.

Meanwhile, “Game of Thrones” returns on April 6.

I wish people realized the books aren’t called ‘Game of Thrones.’

  2. Game O' Drones says:

His son Chris makes great music! But Princess of China is a cheap Duran Duran rip-off of Save a Prayer! Tip my hat and give George a RR Tolken! For his own, LOTRs rip-off! All we need now, is some Dhal Oompa Loompas, but yea… GOT has that too! Nice show, and Anglish babes are the besh! But where are the BLACK people? George needs to add P. Ditty to his Umpire collection of books chapters!

Reblogged this on La Virino Kiu Skribas.
