‘Game of Thrones’ Breaks Piracy Records Again


HBO’s “Game of Thrones” has taken over the Internet … again.

While Sunday’s shocker-heavy “purple wedding” episode was solid in ratings — especially given that night’s jam-packed schedule — it excelled at uniting the Internet pirates.

“The latest episode of ‘Game of Thrones’ has broken the record for the most people sharing a file simultaneously via BitTorrent,” reports Ernesto Van Der Sar, founder of copyright piracy news site TorrentFreak. “More than 193,000 people shared a single copy [Monday] evening, and roughly 1.5 million people downloaded the episode during the first day.”

This large number of users on a single file beats out the previous record holder … the “Game of Thrones” season three finale.
