Lifetime’s latest pic “Flowers in the Attic” scored 6.1 million viewers Saturday night, making it ad-supported cable’s best-performing original movie since Lifetime’s “Steel Magnolias” telecast in October 2012, which drew 6.5 million in its premiere.

Ratings for “Flowers” break down to 2.6 million viewers in adults 25-54, and 2 million in women 25-54, two coveted demos for the femme-skewing cabler.

“Flowers” also soared on Twitter during the Saturday night broadcast, landing as the second most-tweeted program on all of TV. (SAG Awards took the top spot that night.)

Lifetime plans to encore “Flowers” this Saturday at 10 p.m. following the premiere of “Lizzie Borden Took An Ax,” and already has a “Flowers” sequel in the works.

I watched Flowers in the attic and thought it was very good. It portrayed the mother for being the selfish wench that she is. I thought it was better then the Lizzie Borden movie.
