“Fargo” writer-executive producer-showrunner Noah Hawley and his production company 26 Keys have closed a two-year overall production deal with FX Productions, it was announced today by Eric Schrier and Nick Grad, presidents of original programming for FX Networks and FX Productions.
The deal will encompass all projects developed for cable and broadcast television.
“As is evident by the universal acclaim and extraordinary reviews pouring in for ‘Fargo,’ Noah Hawley is one of the most talented writer-producers in this business,” said Schrier. “His remarkable creative achievement with ‘Fargo’ is a testament to his skill and ability. We look forward to continuing our relationship with him.”
Although “Fargo,” which stars Billy Bob Thorton and Martin Freeman and is based on the 1996 film by the Coen brothers, premiered April 15 to modest numbers, the limited series from Nomadic Pictures, 26 Keys Prods. and the Littlefield Co. in association with MGM Television and FX Prods received favorable reviews. Variety‘s Brian Lowry says it “quickly establishes itself as its own property, possessing the tone and style of the rightly admired Coen brothers classic, but pursuing a new tawdry true-crime tale, albeit in similar environs.”
Hawley is represented by CAA and attorney Joel McKuin of McKuin Frankel Whitehead.
