Ed Bernero Joins NBC's 'State of

Ed Bernero has joined NBC’s new Katherine Heigl drama “State of Affairs” as exec producer and showrunner.

Bernero is a drama vet and sought-after showrunner who previously held the reins of CBS’ “Criminal Minds” and NBC’s “Third Watch,” among other shows.

Heigl plays a CIA analyst tasked with giving the president his daily briefing on global security concerns. Joe Carnahan created the series and directed the pilot for Universal TV. Alfre Woodard co-stars.

“State of Affairs” is slated to premiere in November in the Monday 10 p.m. slot behind “The Voice.”
