The animated series is the first project stemming from Disney’s 2012 acquisition of Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion in cash and stock.
“Star Wars Rebels” continues the tradition of the “Star Wars” saga with new adventures. As the series begins, Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet, with the starship Ghost taking a stand against the Empire.
In the U.S., Disney XD will feature the trailer during the premiere of Lego’s “Star Wars: The New Yoda Chronicles” at 7 p.m. The trailer will also air on Disney Channel, ABC, ABC Family, Fusion, ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN3 at varying times throughout the day.
Fans can get a 30-second sneak peak of the trailer on ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Friday.
“Star Wars Rebels” is scheduled to premiere in the fall as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel, to be followed by a series on Disney XD channels around the world.
