DirecTV has ordered 10 episodes of its new original comedy “Things You Shouldn’t Say Past Midnight,” which will be penned by award-winning screenwriter Peter Ackerman (“The Americans,” “Ice Age”). This is the company’s first venture into comedy.
The series, based on Ackerman’s play of the same name, looks at a variety of modern-day relationships through the idea that nothing good happens after midnight.
“Television these days feels like the Wild West, with new players arriving all the time to stake their claim and create their own programming in fresh, new ways,” Ackerman said in a statement. “Momentum TV and DirecTV are at the forefront of this landscape and I couldn’t be more proud to participate.”
Production will begin in Los Angeles in May, and the fictional series will air on Audience Network later this year. It will be exec produced by Ackerman and Nick Hamm for Momentum TV.
