Dick Clark Productions Teams with World

Dick Clark Productions will work with the World Memory Championships and USA Memory Championships to produce a TV show based on the greatest test of memory in the world, DCP announced Thursday.

Founded in 1991 by Tony Buzan and Raymond Keene, the World Memory Championships test the mental acuity of competitors from around the globe. The 2013 contest, held in London, saw a record 32 countries and 120 Mental Athletes and Arbiters attending, with ten different disciplines conducted over the three days of competition. In 1997, the USA National Memory Championship was introduced by Tony Dottino.

“The World Memory Championships has an incredible 22-year history as the world stage for mental athletes to compete and push themselves to be the very best in the world, while the USA Memory Championship has established a remarkably exciting and audience friendly format, ” said Mike Mahan, President of DCP. “The production will combine the enormous wow factor of watching these mental athletes perform with unique challenges for home audiences, creating a heart-pounding family-friendly event special.”

The contest will be executive produced by Keene, Mahan, Allen Shapiro, Barry Adelman, Richard Kaufman and Lynn Williams. Dottino and Marshall Tarley from the USA Memory Championship will serve as co-executive producers.
