Hoping to continue its success with femme-focused shows like “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Revenge,” ABC has given a put-pilot order to a medical advocate drama project from actor-scribe David Marshall Grant.
The untitled one-hour drama, which hails from Vendetta Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, follows a type-A business woman who is misdiagnosed after a medical scare. Having experienced first-hand the hazards of the American healthcare system, she shocks her friends and family by leaving her career behind to become a brilliant and relentless advocate for anyone caught in the chaotic and ever-changing maze that is modern medicine.
Grant (“Smash,” “Brothers and Sisters”) is exec producing with Vendetta’s Jennifer Klein and Sheldon Turner. Consulting producers are Dr. Valerie Ulene and Byrdie Lifson-Pompan, both principals at healthcare consulting and case management company Clear Health Advisors.
