Steve Bodow, Jen Flanz, Adam Lowitt rise to exec producer; Elliott Kalan named head writer
“The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” has promoted its trio of showrunners to exec producer rank and named a new head writer.
Steve Bodow, Jen Flanz and Adam Lowitt were tapped as showrunners on the Comedy Central franchise in October after Rory Albanese left the post. Elliott Kalan has been tapped head writer, filling the opening left by Tim Carvell’s move to become showrunner of John Oliver’s new HBO series.
In addition, Tim Greenberg and Hillary Kun have been upped to co-exec producers and Justin Melkmann to supervising producer.
Bodow and Lowitt have been climbed the ranks at “Daily Show” since 2002. Flanz joined in 1998 as a production assistant. Kalan started as a production assistant in 2003.
Separately, “Daily Show’s” companion on Comedy Central, “The Colbert Report,” has upped Emily Lazar to co-exec producer. She’s been with the show since its 2005 debut.
“Daily Show” and “Colbert Report” are produced by Stewart’s Busboy Prods.
