CBS’ ‘Two and a Half Men’ To End Run, ‘The Odd Couple’ to Premiere on Feb. 19

"Two and a Half Men" Emmy

CBS is closing one comedy door and opening another on Feb. 19, announcing on Friday an hourlong series finale for “Two and a Half Men” and the series premiere of “The Odd Couple.”

As part of the comedy tweaks on the night, the net will also be shifting “Mom” to a new 9:30 p.m. time period.

“Two and a Half Men,” which stars Ashton Kutcher and Jon Cryer and is executive produced by Chuck Lorre, ranked as television’s most watched comedy for five consecutive seasons on Mondays from 2005-06 through 2009-10. Upon its completion, 262 episodes will have aired.

“The Odd Couple” will get a good launchpad, sandwiched at 8:30 p.m. between an original episode of TV’s top comedy “The Big Bang Theory” and the finale of “Two and a Half Men.” Starting Feb. 26, the newcomer will be followed by a repeat “Big Bang Theory” and “Mom” in its new timeslot.”

“The McCarthys,” which currently airs at 9:30 behind “Two and a Half Men,” will complete its 15-episode first season on Feb. 12.

“Odd Couple,” an updated version of the Neil Simon play and classic 1970s TV series, stars Matthew Perry as endearing slob Oscar Madison and Thomas Lennon as uptight neat freak Felix Unger. It also stars Wendell Pierce, Lindsay Sloane and Yvette Nicole Brown. Matthew Perry, Bob Daily, Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly, Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum are executive producers for CBS Television Studios.

Two and a Half Men was my FAV year after year–until Charlie left. Then it began stupid and annoying! I used to like Kutcher, but in “this” role he STUNK! Charlie Sheen is absurdly talented. I feel the same about Matthew Perry. Hope the Odd Couple is a big hit!!

  2. Beth says:

I agree the show ended when Charlie left. I’m glad its over. I hope they can get a spin-off with Berta she is funny and I’ll miss her.

12/06/14 12:17a Variety Rick Kissell CBS Desperate to Save Sit-Com Nights
Monday was s stunner, they cut the night to just Two Sit-Coms and then they cancelled ”The Milers” replaced my ”Mike and Molly” which in recent years, it has never done very well in the ratings. Now Thursday is revamped.. ”Two and Half Men” has been laid to rest. Finally. ”McCarthy’s” is on a very short season run. ”The Odd Couple” is Matthew Perry’s last attempt at a series success post ”Friends”. The Sit-Com record is very weak.

  4. Bill Klein says:

Two and a half Men was over for me when Charlie left. I saw the first (after Charlie) episode with Kutcher running around shirtless and thought.. this has just gone from a mans show to a teeny-bopper girly show.
