Remake of French-Canadian series had been shepherded by James Gandolfini

CBS has ordered a comedy pilot from scribe Tad Quill that revolves around a politically incorrect New York City cab driver.

“Taxi-22” is based on a French-lingo show that airs on the Quebec-based cabler TVA. James Gandolfini had been shepherding the project as a producer before his death last June.

Quill penned the U.S. adaptation and will exec produce with Francois Flamand, Patrick Huard, Nancy Sanders, Mark Armstrong, Dennis Erdman and Clark Peterson.

“Taxi-22” marks the third comedy pilot picked up by the Eye this season.
