CBS and Dish Network execs are wrangling down to the wire Thursday in advance of a 7 p.m. ET deadline after which CBS’ 29 stations will go dark on the satcaster.
CBS has vowed to pull its O&O stations Thursday evening if the network has not come to terms with Dish on a new retransmission consent agreement for the stations.
The sides have been in talks for months on a carriage agreement for the stations as well as Showtime and CBS Sports Network. CBS set two short-term extensions last month to prevent a blackout, but on Tuesday the Eye made it clear the stations would go dark if a deal was not reached.
It’s understood that CBS and Dish execs were in communication on Thursday. An Eye source said it would likely come down to a “game time decision” close to the 7 p.m. deadline as to whether the stations will come down.
CBS and Dish reps declined comment.
