CBS is diving into the parenting arena with plans to develop a comedy based on the book “How Not to Calm a Child On a Plane.”

Author Johanna Stein is co-writing the adaptation with Adam Barr. Will Arnett’s Electric Avenue banner is producing with CBS TV Studios. Arnett, Barr and Peter Principato are exec producers, with Stein serving as co-exec producer.

Project revolves around a pair of unconventional parents who try to raise their child by their own rules. The book is a collection of humorous essays about parenting from Stein, an experienced TV scribe and producer of the Yahoo series “Life of Mom.”

Format of “Calm a Child” has not yet been determined.

Barr’s recent sitcom credits include “Growing Up Fisher,” “The New Normal” and “Suburgatory.”

Arnett, repped by WME and Principato-Young, is a co-star of the CBS sitcom “The Millers.”
