Brenda Freeman to Head Marketing for DreamWorks Animation Television

DreamWorks Animation has named Brenda Freeman as head of television marketing for the toon studio.

Freeman most recently was chief marketing officer of Turner Animation and its Cartoon Network, and before that, senior VP of integrated marketing and promotions for the Nickelodeon and MTVN Kids and Family Group.

Freeman will have plenty on her plate at DreamWorks Animation as it’s in the midst of producing more than 1,100 episodes of original programming for Netflix, Germany’s Super RTL and Planeta Junior in Italy and Spain over the next five years targeting kids and families. Most will be based on DWA’s film franchises or titles from Classic Media’s library.

“Brenda’s vast experience in the branding, marketing and distribution of family and kids programming will be invaluable as we continue to grow our television division,” said DreamWorks Animation CMO Dawn Taubin. “We are thrilled to have such a veteran of the industry join our team.”

Freeman’s resume also includes having served as VP of consumer marketing for VH1, where she oversaw all consumer and off-channel marketing for the company as well as digital marketing for the network, and the digital networks VH1 Classic and VH1 Soul.
