With its footprint in realty TV firmly planted, Bravo has officially moved into scripted series, ordering 13 episodes of Marti Noxon’s “Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce.”
Starring Lisa Edelstein, Janeane Garofalo, Paul Adelstein and Beau Garrett and based on Vicki Iovine’s books, the dramedy follows a relationship guru as she goes through her own separation and attempts to navigate the Los Angeles dating scene as a single fortysomething.
Set to premiere in 2015, the hourlong series is produced by Universal Cable Productions with Noxon, who wrote the pilot, as well as Dawn Olmstead, Iovine, Meryl Poster and Adam Brooks. Brooks also directed the pilot.
“’Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce’ offers a fresh take on women tackling life after divorce with the help of their girlfriends,” says Andrew Wang, Bravo’s VP of scripted development and production. “For our first scripted show, we wanted something that was sophisticated, funny and honest. We’re thrilled to have the talented Marti Noxon breaking this new ground with Bravo.”
