Bill Lawrence and ‘Undateable’ Stars Hit the Road to Promote NBC Comedy ‘Undateable’

Warner Bros. TV is going old-school with its pre-launch promotional campaign for its NBC sitcom “Undateable,” from Bill Lawrence and Adam Sztykiel.

The buddy comedy stars four standup comics — Chris D’Elia, Brent Morin, Ron Funches and Rick Glassman — so WBTV decided to send them off to do what they do best in a multi-city tour kicking off Sunday at Caroline’s on Broadway in New York City. Lawrence, known to sitcom fans as the showrunner behind “Scrubs,” “Cougar Town” and “Spin City,” will serve as emcee.

“Since it’s so hard to launch a network comedy in this competitive landscape, we thought we would try a little grassroots marketing,” Sztykiel said. “Plus, it will be exciting to see Bill travel around in a van.”

The tour comes in part because the show is launching late in the TV season (NBC has yet to confirm a premiere date but it’s expected to hit in April).

Among the confirmed tour dates that run through March 20 are stops in Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Dallas and Houston.
