BANGALORE — Arun Jaitley has been appointed India’s Minister for Information and Broadcasting. He replaces Prakash Javadekar who held the post since the Narendra Modi led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) swept to power in May.
Jaitley also holds the portfolios of Finance and Corporate Affairs. Assisting Jaitley as Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting will be Olympic shooting silver medallist turned politician Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore.
This will be Jaitley’s second stint in the Information and Broadcasting ministry. He was Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting in the BJP government of 1999.
