AMC Shoot 'Knifeman' Pilot, Starring Tim

LONDONAMC will shoot the pilot for “Knifeman,” starring Tim Roth, in London, production support agency Film London confirmed Thursday.

Craig Zisk has been attached to direct. It is based on “The Knife Man: Blood, Body-snatching and the Birth of Modern Surgery,” a biography of 18th-century surgeon John Hunter.

It is the latest U.S. production to be lured to U.K. shores by the country’s new tax relief for big-budget television projects. It joins 20th Century Fox’s “24: Live Another Day,” which saw Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer fighting terrorists in the U.K. capital.

“24: Live Another Day” shot for more than six months, with a core crew of 130, supplemented by over 500 temporary crew, and a U.K. cast of approximately 150, plus thousands of extras. It had a total production spend of approximately £37 million ($62.8 million).
