The Swedish detective series' third season has sold to the BBC, Arrow Films and High Gloss Entertainment
PARIS– Zodiak Rights, the distribution arm of Zodiak Media, has inked a flurry of deals on the third season of “Mankell’s Wallander,” the popular detective series based Swedish author Henning Mankell’s bestselling novels.
Produced by Zodiak Media-owned Yellow Bird Entertainment, the series’ third order has sold to the UK (BBC), Australia and New Zealand (High Gloss Entertainment), former Yugoslavia (Kip), the CIS countries (Mauris Business) , Iceland (Ruv) and Poland (Canal+ Poland). Arrow Films has acquired the video rights for the UK.
“Wallander” was rated as BBC4’s top imported drama in 2009 and 2010. Arrow Films has acquired the video rights for the UK.
The third season is based on Mankell’s last novel, “The Troubled Man,” and other original stories. The author’s books have sold over 25 million copies worldwide.
Lensed in Skane, Sweden, the skein stars Krister Henriksson (pictured) as Kurt Wallander, a hard-drinking, brooding, relentless master detective chasing criminals in Southern Sweden.
