LONDON — Optomen Intl. has sold Gordon Ramsay’s two latest shows — “Costa Del Nightmares” (a.k.a. “Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares” season six), and “Gordon Ramsay’s Ultimate Home Cooking” — in 140 international territories.
Deals inked by Optomen Intl., which is the distribution arm of ALL3Media-owned Optomen Television, include those with BBC Global, Discovery and Foxtel, and total 1,900 hours of content.
“Costa Del Nightmares,” which wrapped filming in Spain last week, has been pre-sold to 110 territories, with more deals set to be closed when Channel 4 premieres the show later this year. Among the broadcasters to have bought the show, in which Ramsay help expats living on the Costa Del Sol to turn around their struggling eateries, are BBC Global (Africa, Poland, Asia), FX India, Planet TV Slovenia, SIC Portugal, TV Joj Slovakia, ABS Philippines and VTM Belgium.
Deals have also been closed in 140 territories for the second series of “Ultimate Home Cooking,” in which Ramsay focuses on home cooking for the family. Fifteen broadcasters have acquired the second season, including BBC Global (Africa and Asia), Digiturk Turkey, Discovery (Italy, Russia, Middle East), Fox Bulgaria, Foxtel Australia, LNK Lithuania, MediaWorks New Zealand, Multicanal Spain, ABS Philippines, NT7 Malaysia, Planet TV Slovenia, SIC Portugal and TVN Poland.
Caroline Stephenson, director of sales for Optomen Intl., said: “The overwhelming global interest in these two shows indicates that the Gordon Ramsay brand is as strong as ever. There’s something about Gordon’s no-nonsense approach to all things culinary, whether he’s cooking a family meal or bringing his bracing common sense to bear on a restaurant in trouble that resonates with audiences the world over. It seems everybody wants a little Ramsay magic in their lives.”
The shows are produced by One Potato Two Potato, which is a joint-venture founded by Ramsay and Optomen Television. Other OPTP shows include “Hotel Hell,” “Food Court Wars,” “America’s Best Restaurant,” “Cookalong Live,” “MasterChef,” a co-production with Shine America, and “MasterChef Junior,” also a co-production with Shine America.
