Fox International Productions’ exec Shebnem Askin has joined Fox Turkey as Executive Vice President of Programming at the TV channel, which is among the top five stations in the country’s booming TV market.
Askin, who was Senior Vice President of International Acquisitions and Sales at FIP, will now be in charge of boosting Fox Turkey’s entertainment offering and will be responsible for commissioning, acquiring and scheduling film, drama, factual, kids and event entertainment programming, as well as working with Fox Turkey’s channel partners.
At FIP Askin, who is a Turkish native, had been active on the co-productions and acquisitions side, including negotiations for Mexico’s Academy Award Entry “Miss Bala,” directed by Gerarado Naranjo, and for Gaumont’s upcoming “Mea Culpa” directed by Fred Cavaye. Pietro Vicari, General Manager of Fox Turkey praised Shebnem in a statement as a “highly experienced and capable executive who brings strong programming industry expertise to Fox Turkey.”
Askin commented: “I’m delighted to be joining Fox Turkey at such a creatively exciting time for TV.”
“Fox Turkey has some fantastic projects in development, and while it is sad to leave Fox International Productions after four thoroughly enjoyable years I look forward to returning to Turkey and joining Pietro and his team as they continue to invest in the very best commissioned and acquired content for viewers,” she added.
With almost 18 million TV households the Turkish TV market is one of the largest and fastest growing in Europe.
