Vince DeDario DGA Award

Associate director is a mentor to fellow guild members

Starting out as an actor, Vince DeDario soon shifted gears and decided to become a helmer, first working as an associate director at ABC in 1969. The recipient of the DGA’s Franklin J. Schaffner Achievement Award, which is given to an associate director or stage manager, eventually moved to ABC Sports in New York City where he would work for the next three decades.

As an active member and councilman of the guild, DeDario, now semi-retired, often provides guidance and advice to other members. His most valuable piece of advice, he notes, is to “work hard at your craft and learn everything you can.”
