HONG KONG – HBO On Demand is to launch in India this week in partnership between Turner International and DTH satellite platform Tata Sky.

The service will be free of charge to subscribers of the Turner-distributed HBO Hits HD and HBO Defined HD.

At launch, the service will carry all seasons of HBO shows “Game of Thrones,” “True Detective” (Season 1) and “Banshee” (Season 1-2). Additional HBO Original Series and movie content will be monthly.

“Moving with times, we are aware of the changing consumption patterns of our viewers, hence we are pleased to launch the first ever ‘HBO On Demand’ model in India,” said Paolo Agostinelli, chief content & business development officer at Tata Sky.

HBO Defined is a 24-hour advertising-free premium programming subscription service screening the latest Hollywood titles and HBO Originals content. Along with HBO Hits, the channels were launched in early 2013 by HBO and Eros International.
