Ricky Gervais — a newly minted Golden Globe nominee for his work in the Netflix comedy series “Derek” — is ready to return to the Beverly Hilton and face the playful jabs from Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, the ceremony’s hosts. He knows he will be a target and already has planned a strategy to deflect their zingers.

“I’m going to heckle back,” Gervais told Variety at the world premiere of his film “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb” in New York on Dec. 11. “I’m taking on a microphone to have control of the big speaker system so that it’s a fair fight.”

The comedian is no stranger to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s annual award show. He won a Golden Globe in 2004 for his starring role in the original British version of “The Office” and hosted the show three times. Many felt that he went too far with his jokes. He knows it’s payback time and is prepared for the mean jokes.

“As long as they don’t actually kill me, I’m ready for anything,” he quipped. “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me. Amy and Tina, bring it on!”

When asked about the Sony Pictures Entertainment hacking scandal, Gervais wasn’t worried about his own private messages leaking to the public.

“I’m not bothered by it. I tweet everything and have nothing to hide,” he said. “I don’t really care what people think of me, honest. If people want to know what I’m thinking, they don’t have to hack my email. I’ll tell them to their face!”

Fox opens “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb” on Dec. 19.

Ricky Gervais needs to come back as host of ALL award shows. The man is brilliant. I would never watch an award show unless I knew he was going to be on. He is the best host ever. He cuts a slice through that boring, Hollywood fetid self indulgent claptrap. His 4 minutes was the best part of the show.

Yes, he was the best ever. Glad he’ll be back to liven things up.

Ricky, truly was the best host ever
