Oscar Jaenada Pays Homage to Cantinflas at Premiere 54 Years Later

Wednesday night’s premiere of Lionsgate-Pantelion’s “Cantinflas” at the TCL Chinese offered a fine sense of Hollywood history.

The biopic, which opens Friday, debuted at the same location where the iconic Mexican actor placed his hand and footprints in 1960 for the “Pepe” premiere. Oscar Jaenada was more than happy to explore the past.

Jaenada was exuberant and relieved at the Hollywood Roosevelt afterparty following the screening.

Michael Imperioli, who played “Around the World in 80 Days” producer Mike Todd, said that the film was enormous fun. But not so much fun: Because his role in “Californication” required long hair, he wore a wig for the film.

Also attending the premiere: Cantinflas’ son Mario Moreno Ivanova, Zoe Saldana and Danny Trejo.

“Cantinflas” opens nationwide Aug. 29.
