Bruce Willis-Jason Patric Pic ‘The Prince’ Celebrates Western Roots

Monday night’s premiere of Lionsgate’s “The Prince” at the Chinese evoked plenty of nostalgia for the old Westerns — even though the story’s set in modern-day New Orleans.

During the post-screening bash at the Hollywood Supper Club, director Brian A. Miller cited “The Searchers,” “Unforgiven” and “Open Range” as influences in the tale of a retired assassin drawn back into the life when his daughter is kidnapped.

“All we lacked was cowboy hats and the swinging saloon doors,” Miller noted.

Patric admitted that the extensive gunplay in the film required him to brush up on his technique before cameras began rolling in New Orleans and Mobile, Ala.

Miller was effusive in his praise of the cast, crew and producers, noting that after completing the shoot on “The Prince,” he shot revenge drama “Vice” using some of same cast (Bruce Willis), producers (Emmett/Furla/Oasis) and locations.

As for producer Randall Emmett, he is already looking forward to his next project — Martin Scorsese’s Japan-set historical  adventure “Silence.” Shooting starts in November in Taiwan.

“I think this could be Martin’s masterpiece,” he said.

“The Prince’s” stars Jessica Lowndes and Gia Mantegna were also in attendance.

Lionsgate releases “The Prince” Aug. 22 in theaters and VOD.
