Barney Greengrass Transforms Into Freds at Barneys

Freds at Barneys Restaurant

The new Freds at Barneys replaces the once-beloved Barney Greengrass — ironically, just as high-end delis are starting to have their moment on the food scene. Industry diners will now find an Italian-meets-California menu at Freds, which emphasizes fresh, healthy dishes like Mark’s Madison Avenue Salad, touted as the ultimate chopped salad; artisan pizzas and the actress-friendly vegan cashew “cheese” dip with raw vegetables. The view from the terrace remains terrific.

Eat: Beverly Hills Club sandwich with shrimp, crab, avocado and bacon; New York Nova with housemade bagel crisps

Drink: Giovanni’s Last Work with Prosecco and grapefruit liqueur; Laurel Canyon Virgin Sunrise (with optional tequila)

Go: 9570 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills
