Paul McCartney Postpones U.S. Tour Dates Due to Illness

Despite “feeling great,” Paul McCartney has heeded to medical advice and pushed several U.S. tour dates from June to October because of a viral infection he contracted weeks ago.

In May, the former Beatle was forced to postpone a handful of dates in Japan and one in South Korea. His Out There tour was originally scheduled to resume in the U.S. June 14 in Lubbock, Texas. It will now pick back up July 5th in Albany.

“I’m sorry but it’s going to be a few more weeks before we get rocking in America again,” McCartney said in a statement. “I’m feeling great but taking my docs’ advice to take it easy for just a few more days. Look forward to seeing you all soon.”

The 71-year-old was hospitalized last month for the virus in a Toyko hospital. At the time, his rep said, “He will make a complete recovery and has been ordered to take a few days rest.”

Before the dates were rescheduled, the Out There tour was set to wrap up Aug. 14th at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, where the Beatles played their first full concert in 1966. Now, the final date is Oct. 28 at the Yum! Center in Louisville.
