Keith Urban has released a statement regarding an alleged rape that occurred at the Boston stop of his Raise ‘Em Up tour on Saturday, July 26.

Hosted at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Mass., the statement refers to the accused rape of a 17-year old female by Sean Murphy, 18, which reportedly occurred on the venue’s lawn.

“My team and I were horrified to learn of the events reported in Boston this past weekend and our hearts and prayers go out to all those affected,” the statement reads. “This type of behavior stands in stark contrast to the spirit of our shows.”

Murphy, a Boston resident, was arrested at the event and has pled not guilty to the charge of rape. According to Mansfield police, patrons nearby at the concert assisted the victim and recorded the incident on photo and video.

“Officers conducting the investigation were assisted by patrons that had been concerned and took photos and video of the assault on their cellular phones,” the police said in a statement. “Those phones are being processed to recover the digital evidence of the assault.”

Otherwise, the event also saw an unusually large amount of police activity. Entertainment Tonight reports that after the drunken crowd became uncontrollable, 22 individuals were hospitalized, over 50 were arrested and 46 were treated for alcohol-related illnesses.

Urban, who will return to “American Idol” as a judge for the upcoming 14th season, plans to continue his Raise ‘Em Up tour as scheduled with its next show on Thursday in Cincinnati.

    1. Siskokid says:

Unimpressed and disappointed by Keith Urban’s bland and corporate statement about the rape at his concert.

    2. Dolores says:

I’ve gone to Keith Urban concerts, I’ve never seen anything like that going on. What kind of people were attending this concert ? Why would people not stop this guy ? He’s not a rapper, he’s a country singer.
