Former AFTRA national executive director Kim Roberts Hedgpeth has been tapped as administrator of the Film Musicians Secondary Markets Fund.
The fund collects and distributes residuals to musicians in the motion picture and television industry. It distributed more than $72 million in residuals to musicians in fiscal year 2012-13, up 6.5% over the previous fiscal year.
The announcement was made jointly by the American Federation of Musicians and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.
The fund was established in 1972 through the collective bargaining agreement between the AFM and the AMPTP.
In addition to collecting and distributing residuals to musicians, the fund also performs regular compliance reviews, pursues undiscovered revenue sources owed to participants and works on piracy issues.
Roberts Hedgpeth has been serving as national exec director of the American Youth Soccer Organization. She served seven years as AFTRA’s top exec, leaving in 2012 after it merged with SAG.
During that same period, she served on the board of trustees of the AFTRA Health and Retirement Fund and on the board of the AFM-AFTRA Intellectual Property Rights Distribution Fund.
