White Cherry execs Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner have been the kudocast's production team since 2003
White Cherry Entertainment, the company that has been the production team for the Tony Awards since 2003, has re-upped its contract with Tony Awards Prods. to work on the kudocast for another three years, through to 2016.
Move isn’t much of a surprise. Although often ratings-challenged, the awards broadcast regularly wins trophies of its own, including the Emmy for outstanding special class program for the last four consecutive years. Director Glenn Weiss, one of the co-founders of White Cherry, was recently nommed for a Directors Guild Award for his work on the 67th Annual Tonys.
Weiss and White Cherry co-topper Ricky Kirshner are both on board as exec producers of the annual legit laurels. Ceremony is produced by Tony Awards Prods., the entity that teams the two Broadway orgs that present the awards show every year, the Broadway League and the American Theater Wing.
Tony ceremony is set for June 8 at Radio City Music Hall. Nominations are announced April 29.
