The Broadway Channel, a producer and distributor of legit-centric video content, has partnered with PIX11, the New York CW affiliate, to produce segments and primetime specials focusing on Broadway.

The Tribune Broadcasting station will team with the Broadway Channel to produce a quarterly series of 30-minute primetime specials, “Broadway Profiles,” with the first of them airing on PIX11 in May ahead of the Tony Awards. They’ll also co-produce a weekly seg covering Main Stem news and events, “What’s Hot on Broadway,” for PIX11 News. Station anchor Tamsen Fadal will host both series.

“What’s Hot” will also be showcased on a newly created section of the PIX11 website, where the station’s Broadway content will be accessible.

Broadway fare has long been a staple of national morning news shows, which often play to the older-skewing female auds that represent Broadway’s prime ticketbuying demo. Productions also have made occasional appearances on late night shows including “Late Show with David Letterman” and “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.”

Broadway Channel distributes tourist-targeted content via dedicated cable channels in Manhattan hotels and on JetBlue Airlines’ screens, and also makes content available on outlets including Time Warner Cable, Samsung TV, TiVO, You Tube and iTunes, among others.
