Ruth Wilson, the British actress (“Luther”) who is one of the stars of upcoming Showtime series “The Affair,” will appear opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in “Constellations,” the Nick Payne play bowing on Broadway this winter.
Wilson, who in London won Olivier Awards for “Anna Christie” (with Jude Law) and “A Streetcar Named Desire” (with Rachel Weisz), will star with Gyllenhaal in a fractured take on a relationship between a man and a woman, which plays out in multiple different ways.
Michael Longhurst, who helmed Gyllenhaal in an Off Broadway staging of “If There Is I Haven’t Found It Yet,” directs the play, which premiered in a well-received 2012 run at the Royal Court in London before it shifted to the West End.
Manhattan Theater Club and the Royal Court produce “Constellations” on Broadway by special arrangement with Ambassador Theater Group and the Dodgers. The 13-week engagement kicks off previews Dec. 16 prior to a Jan. 13 opening.
