South Korea’s CJ to Revive ‘42nd Street’ Again

Winterplay band support Korean version of

Original version of show has played over 20 seasons in Korea.

HONG KONG – Korean entertainment industry giant CJ E&M is to give another revival to Broadway musical “42nd Street.”

The Korean-language show will play in an initial season July 8 to Aug. 31 at the CJ Towol Theater at the Seoul Arts Center.

Introduced in 1996, the original version of “42nd Street” has been presented in South Korea over 20 seasons.

The revival is headlined by theater acting talent Nam Kyung Joo and Park Hae Mi.

In addition to the original music, Korean pop-jazz quartet band Winterplay (pictured), which is popular across Asia, has written and released a new song “Dream Your Dream.” The song is additionally performed by Summerplay 42, a collaborative group involving Winterplay and the cast of the show.
