David Binder, the Broadway producer of “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” has signed on as an artistic associate of LIFT, the 33-year-old London Intl. Festival of Theater.

The producer, who launched the Tony-winning staging of “Hedwig” with Neil Patrick Harris and later rotated current topliner Michael C. Hall into the role, will collaborate with LIFT in developing international projects to be showcased in future editions of the fest. Binder was part of the 2014 festival as the producer of “Deblozay,” an immersive theater piece based on Haitian funeral marches.

Binder, who also produced the strong-selling revival of “Of Mice and Men” that starred James Franco, has some experience with international performance festivals. In New York, he produced the New Island Festival of Dutch performance on Governors Island in 2009, as well as the High Line Festival in 2007. He also produced “De La Guarda,” the Off Broadway alum that appeared at LIFT in 1997.

Established in 1981, LIFT programs year-round programming as well as its biennial London fest. The next outing is skedded for June 2016.

Binder was named one of Variety‘s New York Entertainment Elite this year.
