Time’s up for Broadway’s “Cinderella,” which will close at the end of the year following a guest stint by “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star NeNe Leakes.

The upcoming closing looked to be in the cards for “Cinderella,” which posted strong sales soon after it began performances in January 2013 but has in more recent weeks seen its box office become increasingly uneven. Last week the show pulled in about $640,000 and played to audiences that averaged 61% of capacity.

Leakes will play the wicked stepmother in the show starting Nov. 25, replacing Sherri Shepherd, who kicks off her own stint in the production Sept. 9 with Keke Palmer, who’ll appear in the show until it closes Jan. 3.

The shuttering of “Cinderella” will leave the Broadway Theater, one of the Main Stem’s larger venues, vacant. The house has previously been mentioned as a possible venue for “King Kong,” the Australian megamusical that has been circling Broadway since its debut Down Under.
