Watch: First Trailer for Johnny Depp Spy Comedy ‘Mortdecai’

The first trailer for “Mortdecai,” which was released on Wednesday, shows star Johnny Depp playing an offbeat rogue, adding to his already long list of film characters with those traits.

The action comedy’s trailer shows Depp as Charlie Mortdecai, a debonair art dealer in search of a missing and mysterious painting. He embarks on a worldwide adventure to find the expensive item and hopefully uncover wealth for himself while juggling some angry Russians, the British Mi5, his impossibly leggy wife and an international terrorist.

Gwyneth Paltrow, Ewan McGregor and Olivia Munn also star in the film.

The Lionsgate movie is based on the “The Mortdecai Trilogy.” It’s set to bow in theaters on Feb. 6.

  1. Pickaboo says:

It reminds Pink Panther’s movies, with Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau, or the Agatha Christie’s adaptations with Peter Ustinov’s role of Hercules Poirot. So … Nothing new on the horizon. If only the teaser gives me already this impression of déjà vue I don’t think I’ ll go and see it. For sure I’ll find something more interesting to do
