Shawn Levy is in talks to develop Warner Bros.’ adaptation of the “Minecraft” videogame with an eye to direct.

The studio acquired the rights to the game in February with Roy Lee producing along with Jill Messick.

The concept of the game allows players to create their own avatar, and they are dropped into a world filled with nocturnal monsters.

Levy most recently directed “This is Where I Leave You” for Warners and has “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb” bowing in December.

He is repped by WME. Deadline first reported the news.

I love how the concept of the game is stated as ‘The concept of the game allows players to create their own avatar, and they are dropped into a world filled with nocturnal monsters.’…… Very poorly constructed sentence; not exactly the concept of the game either.
