Martin worked with Clint Eastwood on over a dozen movies and earned his Oscar nod for best achievement in sound mixing in 2006 for the war drama “Flags of Our Fathers.” He recently collaborated with Eastwood on the upcoming “American Sniper” and the recently-released “Jersey Boys.” “American Sniper,” which stars Bradley Cooper, just wrapped in June and is set to hit theaters next year.
Martin died July 24 of vasculitis after being hospitalized at Burbank’s Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center with chest pains.
Martin and Eastwood’s tight-knit working relationship, which began with 1999’s “True Crime,” included best picture Oscar-winner “Million Dollar Baby,” “Mystic River,” “Gran Torino” and “Trouble With the Curve.”
Martin also worked with director John Huston in 1987 on his final film, “The Dead,” “Tremors” and “Charlie’s Angels.” He recently did sound mixing on “Mad Men” and “Sons of Anarchy.”
He is survived by his wife Elena and step-daughter Claudia. A memorial will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 6 at Forest Lawn.
