The Venice Film Festival’s independently run Venice Days section is celebrating its first ten years with a Euros 20,000 ($27,000) cash prize to be awarded at it’s 11th edition Aug. 27-September 6.

The parallel Venice event, modelled on the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, was previously non-competitive. The prize, which be a regular feature of Venice Days going forward, will be split between the producer and director.

Announcement was made at a party held during the Berlin Film Festival at Berlin’s Club Gretchen packed with European talents, including Valeria Golino (pictured with Venice Days topper Giorgio Gosetti).
