PARIS– TrustNordisk has picked up international sales rights to Nils Gaup (“The Kautokeino Rebellion”)’s epic action drama “The Last King” and will start pre-selling it at Toronto.
Based on true events, “The Last King” is a tale set in 1205, during the Civil War in Norway. It turns on two Norwegian warriors who set on a perilous journey across the mountains in order to bring the last remaining heir, a two-year old, to the throne.
“The Last King” will topline Norwegian up-and-comer Jakob Oftebro (“When Animals Dream”), Kristofer Hivju (“Game of Throne”), Thorbjørn Harr (“Vikings”) and Pål Sverre Hagen (“Ragnarok”).
Pic is being produced by Stein B. Kvae and Finn Gjerdrum for Paradox Film 3 AS, co-produced by Nordisk Film, Newgrange Pictures Ltd and Proton Cinema+Theatre. It’s backed by the Norwegian Film Institute, Irish Film Board and Eurimages.
“The Last King” is scheduled for a release in Norway during the first quarter of 2016.
