WATCH: First Trailer for Guy Pearce-Robert Pattinson’s ‘The Rover’

A24 has released the first teaser trailer for the futuristic thriller “The Rover,” starring Robert Pattinson and Guy Pearce.

Project, set in a dystopian version of Australia, is directed by “Animal Kingdom” helmer David Michod. Producers are Liz Watts for Porchlight Film and David Linde under his Lava Bear Films banner along with Michod.

Story, conceived by Michod and Joel Edgerton, is set in a world where life is cheap a decade after the collapse of the western economic system. Pearce portrays a loner traveling in the desolate Australian outback, where a gang of thieves steal his car and leave behind a wounded member, played by Pattinson, who’s then forced to help track down the gang.

A24 has not set a release date but the trailer says the film will come out this summer.

  1. Guy says:

    I like it. Pearce rules!

  2. APec says:

Not so keen on this pairing. Pattinson?

    • Nik says:

Seen Cosmopolis? He’s not as crappy as some think. I think the problem is that the hatred of Twilight has clouded everything to do with this guy. Well he must have something or else directors the caliber of Cronenberg, Michod, Herzog and Gray (filmmakers who pretty much have the pick of the talent pool), are going with him. Ever read Jessica Lange’s reviews in the early years of her career? Overwhelmingly, the critics told her to go back to modeling. She told them eff you and then she showed them. And now over 40 years later, she is one of the greatest ‘actors’ of her generation. Let’s give Pattinson a chance to show what he can do while working work quality filmmakers. He just might surprise you.
